NLC Moves To Ditch Plastic Bags At Liquor Stores

The Newfoundland Liquor Corporation is ditching the plastic bags, but the decision has as much to do with business as the environment.

The move towards paper and reusable bags could save the Newfoundland Liquor Corporation $180,000 a year.

That’s according to NLC COO Wally Dicks. He says they’re one of only three liquor boards nationally that haven’t already made the switch to paper.

Dicks says customers will have a choice of paper or reusable bags provided by the liquor corporation or just bringing their own. As well for heavier orders, boxes will be available.

The switch from plastic to paper starts November 1.
